NEET 2017 Counselling Criteria: Allotment of Seats 2017


As per the amended regulation in 2016, the Indian Medical Council Act-1956 and the Dentists Act-1948 NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST (UG) – 2017 [NEET(UG)-2017] will be regulated by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Hence, for the admission MBBS/BDS Courses in India, in their respective colleges go parallel with the approval of Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. This test (NEET -UG) replaced the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) and all individual MBBS exams conducted by states or colleges themselves in 2013. In this scenario, the only exception for the institutions established through an Act of Parliament e.g. AIIMS and JIPMER Puducherry.


The NEET counselling will be governed by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). MCC is constituted by the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. 15% of An All India Quota seats conduct online counselling for MBBS and BDS courses. Hence, only the 15%, who fall under the merit list will be eligible to attend the counseling session of NEET 2017. Thereafter as per the rank secured and choices exercised at the time of counselling the candidates are allotted the seats.

NEET Counselling: Seat Allotment Round 1 Steps :


The aspiring candidates, need to login to the official website of Medical Council of India.


Post this, they need to register themselves, they further submit their preferences and view the suggestive seat allotment. Then they can modify and lock the same, they have chosen.


This step accomplishes their initial round of seat allotment.


Once the candidate's name reflects in the round candidates are supposed to their appointed institutes.


Once the selection is done positively, the aspiring candidates completes the admission formalities.


The candidates should also express their readiness to participate in the 2nd round. This applies only to students who are not satisfied with their allotted college.


NEET Counselling: Seat Allotment round 2 Steps:


In the event the students have not been allotted any seat in 1st round there exists Round-II for NEET UG. Which can give a ray pf hope to many aspiring candidates, who looks forward for their future in the field of medical.


As a part of 2 round of counselling, newly added/vacant seats and of predictable vacant seats.


Once the vacant seats are converted into different categories/subcategories, these are further available.

Some seats also fall vacant after enhancement of prior allotted seats with newly offered seats.


Now, earlier choices submitted by the candidate will be treated as a null and void.


Same like in first round, for the 2nd round of allotment, the aspiring candidates report to their respective institutes.
